The professional will join a stable and respected company that has maintained global leadership in its market since 1920.  As the developer and owner of a key product / ingredient that is needed by a diverse client base, the client continues to realize financial success every year.  They supply companies in such differing industries as cosmetics, food preservation, solvents, biodegradable plastics, lubricants, pharmaceuticals, and medical.  The incumbent will gain global sourcing experience while focusing on the key commodities of oils and fats.  Key will be to implement strategies for formula indexing and to understand and collect category needs.  The professional will also manage supplier portfolio within respective categories and collect supply market intelligence and analysis.  Other key responsibilities include:

Implement the sourcing strategy resulting in savings projects

Responsible for strategy and savings reporting

Implement and support the company’s procurement negotiation plans for entering into strategic procurement relationships with selected suppliers

Assess and establish appropriate contractual approaches towards suppliers

Reduce the number of suppliers

Visit supplier facilities

Assist in the resolution of production, design, quality, and delivery problems

Qualifications/Requirements


BS or BA Degree

5-15 years procurement or sourcing experience  

Commodity buying experience very important in oils and fats

Experience with formula indexing

Knowledge on legal issues within category markets

Entrepreneurial drive and lateral thinking in order to exploit supplier capabilities

Goal and process driven with strong results

Strives for continuous improvement

Maintain and promotes social, ethical and organizational standards
